After finishing my first interview with my coach he told me some interesting things about being a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. "It's not just about being able to teach someone how to choke someone out but to teach them respect and discipline etc". He told me that he learned many things over being a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and a professor. He told me that its much more than teaching a bunch of kids a move. It's about building a ladder for his student, the future generation. It's about teaching them stability, self respect, responsibility, building confidence and teach them right from wrong. People who think martial arts is just for learning how to hurt someone, they are strongly incorrect. It's about teaching right from wrong. He told from being a professor and having dealt with so many things in the martial arts, he told me these few things for being a good teacher and role model for the students:
1. Know your students
2. Speak with confidence
3. Pay attention to all of your students because they are not all built the same
4. Know how to get the students to get involve/participate
There is so much to being a martial artist teacher; professor or senses. They all have similar goals that they want to achieve.
